Thursday, August 28, 2003 Practice The practice yard was serenely still and empty when the solitary man walked into the lonely space. Motes of dust sprang up and danced in the shuttered beams of sunlight as his callused feet thudded softly on the old stones of the keep. Other than that, silence ruled the dusty space. The man stripped efficiently from his clothes and stepped barebodied onto the scuffed cobblestones. Puffs of vapour floated infront of him as his warm lithe body heated up the cold crisp air around him. He seemed to close his eyes to nap while his body settled in a ready position. Waiting... The silver scimitar leapt out in a brilliant arc as it met the blackened greatsword descending towards it. The blades screamed as they ground together. The man grinned at his opponent as they leapt apart. He looked intently at the powerfully-built man before him. An old opponent he had sparred often in the past. He had power and strength and his massive greatsword was not something to be trifled with. But he wasnt intimidated at all. Powerful, but too slow too slow... he grinned, adding to his opponent's discomforture and rage. He loved laughing at them because he knew they hated it. The black greatsword hacked at him but he danced away, grinning away like the devil. Even a fool will not parry it but he played his silver blade on the greatsword, dragging it ever so slightly out of line, spinning the man out of balance. Defenseless. A simple thrust with his silver scimitar into his torso, a simple thrust will end it all. He punched him hard instead with the crossguard and laughed as he leapt away from the flustered, raging man. Try again... i here to take whatever you can dish out his merry eyes glinted and the man lost it, charging in blind fury at this hated foe who always humiliated him, this little man who should not be the victor, this little man who knew him and his ways all too well. He chuckled darkly and dodged the enraged man's vicious cuts and hacks which flew around him like a black wind. Once twice thrice, forever biding his time, playing out his opponent's rage and strength. A lucky stroke sent the flat of the black blade smashing into his side, but he was up on his feet almost instantly. His eyes continued to have their merry glitter but a darkness roiled underneath the mirth. He no longer danced with the man but lunged right in, his silver scimitar flashing in dazzling circles as it descending on the man, seeking vengeance that would not be appeased. Seeking vengeance that will be his. A silvery-blue bolt of lightning struck the silver scimitar away and he leapt away in astonishment as his silver blade instinctively weaved in a defensive pattern. His dark eyes widened in recognition as the shadow coalasced and took form in the practice yard. The new opponent was smaller in stature than the first but he was cool and viewed him with wariness. His eyes tracked his every flicker or shift with intensity and the silvery blue steel blade flexed in his left hand with much more skill and grace than the first hand. The serpentine blade was flexible and writhed like it was alive in his hand. So, so, so... a new challenger eh, No i dont mind, not at all His deathly grin back in place, a dark fire in his eyes, and his silver scimitar raised in challenge and defiance. The steel serpent screeched and the black wind flickered for him and the silver scimitar answered with its own cresendo. Silver lightning flashed in the dark winds of steel as writhing shadows merged and seperated again and again... Drops of moisture splashed onto the cold dead cobblestones, some pure but most glittering like red red petals of the winter rose. posted by lost child | 4:35 PM |
